The Theater gained recognition for naturalistic productions of plays by Chekhov, Tolstoy, and other leading playwrights. In 1943, the Moscow Art Theater School was established with a core curriculum based on the Stanislavsky Method. Today, the School's diverse program offerings include acting, directing, playwriting, production, and theater management. Upon graduation, many students are invited to join Moscow Art Theater. On February 7th and 8th from 7:00-9:30pm, the Moscow Art Theater School will give open lessons in BAC's 4th floor Howard Gilman Performance Space. Professors Konstantin Raikin and Sergey Shentalinskiy, with their students, will give a lecture-demonstration of the School's acting methods as they are taught today, followed by a question/answer session with the audience. The evening will conclude with a dance performance, directed by Professor Alla Sigalova. Please visit www.baryshnikovdancefoundation.org/mats to view the electronic flyer. |
